ABOUT james

James is originally from Memphis and graduated from the University of Alabama in 2017 with a B.S. in Nonprofit Management. Through RUF at Alabama, he met his wife, Virginia, and they quickly discovered a shared love for both camp and campus ministry. After serving for several years at his childhood summer camp and retreat center as an Assistant Director, James joined the staff of RUF at Rhodes College in Memphis and simply never left. In 2022, he started pursuing his M.Div. through Covenant Theological Seminary’s Hybrid M.Div. program (graduating in May 2027).

After several years serving students at Rhodes College, James is excited to join RUF at the University of Vermont. Whether it’s enjoying New England’s outdoor culture, learning to survive the cold, sharing a cup of coffee, or sitting down for a good meal, he loves getting to know students and walking alongside them during their college years. Virginia, a Licensed Professional Counselor, is also excited to move her practice to Burlington.

James and Virginia have two sons, Jamie (born April 2023) and Hank (born February 2025), and two dogs (Josie and Arthur). They cannot wait for all the adventure heading their way.
