John was born and raised in what he confidently calls God’s country—Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, in 1996, and later earned his Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. John was ordained at Independent Presbyterian Church in Memphis in 2007, where he served for seven years. He then continued his ministry to students at Lexington Presbyterian Church in Lexington, SC, and First Presbyterian Church in Rome, GA.

In the spring of 2016, John was called to serve as the RUF Campus Minister at the University of Memphis. John is humbled that, after so many years in ministry, he still gets to spend time with students—teaching them, caring for them, and pointing them to the gracious, undeserved love of Jesus.

John has one wife, Trina, and three sons - Charlie, Henry, and Max.
