Bailey grew up in the small town of Horneytown, NC. He attended Appalachian State University, where he was heavily involved with RUF as a student. During his time there, he felt the call to ministry. After graduation, he did the RUF internship at the University of Florida. This led him to attend Reformed Theological Seminary at Charlotte, where he earned his Masters in Divinity.

Bailey is married to Liz, and they have a daughter, Phoebe. Bailey enjoys fly fishing, collecting Dale Earnhardt memorabilia, and watching a good documentary.
