Andrew Onozuka was born and raised in San Diego and earned his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of California, San Diego, in 2025. During and after college, Andrew worked in a variety of fields ranging from sports and software to restaurant businesses. Through these experiences, however, he increasingly sensed God calling him toward ministry in Japan.

Andrew did not grow up in a Christian home. During his college years, the Lord used campus ministries and his local church to draw him to faith in Christ and radically shape the direction of his life. He first came to faith through a non-denominational church before eventually joining Redeemer San Diego (PCA), where he is now a member. Through his own journey, Andrew became deeply convinced of the importance of the college years as a uniquely formative season of life and developed a desire to encourage and walk alongside university students in their faith.

As a Japanese American who spent several years growing up in Japan, Andrew is especially excited for the opportunity to return to Tokyo and connect with students there through the Gospel. In his free time, he enjoys eating good food, watching movies, being outdoors, and going for a scenic drive.
